Maine Guide Service & Fly Tying Company

"I strongly recommend you take a trip down the river with Megan, good chance you'll get the fishing experience of a lifetime, we did." - Joseph Ridley (August 2020)

Megan Hess is the founder of BeadHead Fishing Company, a guide service and fly tying company based out of Hudson, Maine. She has her bachelors degree in aquatic biology and a masters degree in ecology and environmental sciences. She researched mercury contamination in waterbodies using aquatic insects for 8+ years. Entomology questions? Ask away! She is a Registered Maine Fishing Guide, a commercial fly tyer, instructor with Fly Fish Instruct, and a trout guide for Chandler Lake Camps and Lodge.

“Megan’s guiding skills and technical knowledge are very impressive, but she’s also an awesome instructor. Our skill level ranged from novice to expert. Megan did an excellent job dividing her time and shifting gears to keep us all engaged. She is serious and determined, but patient and laid back at the same time. My friends and I really enjoyed our Maine adventure with Megan and we are already planning our next trip. Based on our experience, I highly recommend Megan and BeadHead Fishing. If you can find your way to northern Maine and book a trip with her, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.” – R.P. (Sept 2020)
